Key Features
- Live PC and Mac Screen Viewer: See one monitor on a paired Windows PC or Mac in real time. Use your phone or tablet as a nearby screen viewer, or connect from another Mac or Windows computer.
- Remote Screen Recording: Start and stop silent H.264/MP4 recording from your controller. The sharing computer records its selected monitor and transfers the finished file to your device.
- Remote Screenshots: Capture a JPEG image of the selected monitor with one tap. Keep a result, reference image, or step in a demonstration without returning to the desk.
- Optional Mouse and Keyboard Control: Enable mouse control to move the pointer, click, drag, or scroll, and keyboard control to type or send supported keys. Viewing and capture do not require these controls.
- Select a Monitor: Choose between the computer's available displays when permission is granted. Preview, screenshots, and recordings all use the selected monitor.
- Capture Quality: Choose an advertised Standard or High quality preset. Saved media is created by the sharing computer; its quality depends on the display, supported capture mode, settings, and available resources.
- Zoom and Full Screen: Enlarge screen details or expand the live view to full screen. Preview settings let you adjust resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate to suit your local connection.
- Local Records Library: Finished screenshots, silent recordings, and video posters appear in Records on the controlling device. Browse in a list or grid, filter by source device, select files, and inspect capture details.
- Save, Share, Drag Out, or Delete: Save completed media to a folder or mobile gallery, share through supported system apps, drag files from the desktop app, or delete captures you no longer need.
- Local Network Only: Your paired devices communicate directly over a trusted LAN or
Wi-Fi . Desktop Remote has no account, cloud desktop service, public screen link, cloud storage, or internet relay. - Secure Pairing: Pairing must be approved. Certificate-pinned HTTPS protects commands, session state, and verified capture transfer. Encrypted peer-to-peer transport carries live video and authorized mouse and keyboard input.
- Sharing-Computer Permissions: The PC or Mac separately decides whether each controller may view its desktop, take screenshots, record the screen, select a monitor, control the pointer, or control the keyboard. Mouse and keyboard permissions default off.
- Visible Screen Use: The sharing computer shows the connected controller, selected monitor, view or control state, and recording status. It can stop recording, end the session, revoke a permission, or remove a pairing locally.
- Nearby Device Discovery: Find supported computers on your network. If discovery is blocked, add a computer manually using its local IP address.
- Comfortable Everyday UI: Desktop, Records, and Devices tabs keep screen viewing, captures, and trusted-device management easy to find. Light and dark themes, accent colors, desktop tray behavior, and autostart help the app fit your setup.

User Interface Design
Desktop Remote is organized into three main tabs:
- Desktop Tab: Choose a nearby paired PC or Mac and open its live screen. Take a screenshot, start or stop recording, select a monitor, zoom, enter full screen, or enable mouse and keyboard control when needed.
- Records Tab: Review transferred screenshots and screen recordings in a list or grid. Filter by device, select captures, inspect file details, retry a transfer when available, then save, share, drag out, or delete completed files.
- Devices Tab: Manage trusted devices. Rename or hide a device, remove an old pairing, add a computer by local IP address, and choose each controller's permissions on the computer that shares its screen.
Desktop Remote keeps your PC or Mac screen within reach of your phone or tablet. Watch and capture first, then turn on mouse or keyboard control whenever the task calls for it.
Use screens responsibly. View, record, or control only devices and content you are authorized to access, and obtain consent where required. The app is designed for visible, attended use. Operating systems may block capture or input on protected screens, password fields, or elevated applications. Screen recordings do not include audio.
