I'd be more than happy to test a version with a delay + preview to help out.

Could you please test the following version:
http://www.ntwind.com/temp/vswitch106.zip
(replace vswitch.exe in the C:\Program Files\VistaSwitcher directory)

Thank you in advance!

Very very early testing is positive. I even see the stale screen occasionally followed by a refresh that fixes it - with the same frequency I saw the original problem.

I've been using it 10mins so please suspend judgment for a while.

okay, I cannot fault it when the switcher displays and then switches

BUT

if I alt-tab quickly, as I know the next switch is the window I want, then it has a horrible refresh problem.

I don't see the switcher when I alt-tab but I do see the refresh problem.

Otherwise I cannot fault it.

OH, one feature request, can I assign WinKey+XXX as the hot key?

You already can, gimmick =)

Alexander, what happened to the fade-in and fade-out animations in v1.0.5?
And one more, what is the new option, "Enable Aero blur effect"?

Sorry, I withdraw the last question. I found your blog post about it. (Unhappily, I can't use it under my Vista Home Basic :'( )

I've only seen one refresh problem since I started testing and it was due to a quick-alt-tab switch.

Its performing flawlessly except for that lone hiccup.

Hi there,

just wanted to mention that the current presentation of the new 'backtick' feature is just a big mess and totally confusing - for anyone not using a native english keyboard.

I just found out that on a german QWERTZ keyboard the 'backtick' is not the backtick, neither placed above the tab key. It is the german ö (oe) umlaut, middle row right side.

It should have been said that this key will have a different physical position on non-english keyboards.

Otherwise I really love this tool - great work, Alexander!

How to remap the Backtick key:

Note that:

I will also add the ability to remap the Backtick key via Language Files. So, if you choose Italian language (for example) when installing VistaSwitcher, you get the Alt + \ shortcut instead of Alt + Backtick by default.

The good news is that now I know why this happens.. :D

I will try to improve my code. Thank you for feedback!

I have temporarily removed them.

I've got one request. When you select a program you want to switch into in VistaSwitcher, can you clear state of Alt key? The reason is when I want to display VistaSwitcher from AutoHotkey, I have to send "{Alt down} Tab" and when I select window by Enter, the Alt key is still in down state. I have not found a way to clear it - AutoHotkey does not see your VistaSwitcher. The classic Win 7 Alt Tab does clear the Alt key state.

If you are sending Alt-down, you are responsible to send Alt-up.

I know - I tried but I couldn't make AutoHotkey work with VistaSwitcher (to send Enter + Alt down instead of just Enter).

Another possibility is command line option that would display VistaSwitcher.

"C:\Program Files\VistaSwitcher\vswitch.exe" /SHOW

other command line options: /APP, /HIDE, /EXIT

Great! I must have overlooked these options. It works for me nicely now. Thanks!

Downloaded an installed. I'll test it throughout Monday and provide feedback.

PS. I'm serious about a donation. Let me run it for a week and I'll definitely make a contribution.
